Kawan Village El Astral is situated a few kilometres south of Valladolid, on the banks of the River Duero. It is the perfect place to stop off if you are crossing Spain. But it is a shame just to make an overnight stop here as, for those who like to take their time, the region has so much to offer: towns and villages rich in tradition, unspoilt countryside etc without forgetting the superb castillian towns of Salamanca, Zamora or Burgos.
Come and discover many sites to visit:
- Riberas de Castronuño: The nature reserve of 'Riberas de Castronuno' stretches along the River Duero between Tordesillas and Castronuno. This area is made up of attractive wooded landscapes and marshland inhabited by many species of birds. The church in Castronuno offers a fabulous view point.
- Tordesillas: The campsite is situated on the outskirts of Tordesillas. This little town, full of character, has a rich history as is witnessed by the architecture and especially by the main square and its yellow façades held up by impressive columns aswell as the Santa Clara monastery.
Valladolid: 30 kms from Kawan Village El Astral discover Valladolid, ancient capital of the Castilla region and the enormous Spanish Empire.Due to its important past, this lively university town shelters an impressive Renaissance heritage composed of churches and elegant palaces.

- 40 kms from Kawan Village El Astral, discover the Mudéjar theme park. Children will love this park dedicated to the castillian style of architecture. Monuments have been reconstructed at a scale especially for children.
- East of Valladolid, at about 40 kms from the site, children adore the park 'Valley of the 6 Senses' (El Valle de los Seis Sentidos).
- The River Duero and the Castronuno Nature Park are two places particularly good for fishing and have a reputation for the size of their carp and barbel. Black-bass can also be fished in these waters. Embark on a river cruise which crosses the region of Tordesillas and offers views of the local landscape from a different angle.Canoes can also be hired for those preferring to descend the Duero independently.

- The restaurant at Kawan Village El Astral, installed in a pleasant, attractively decorated dining room, is greatly appreciated by the visitors. Our chef cooks up delicious dishes based on the traditional castillian recipes. Amongst the most popular dishes, the 'Chicken Turresilano', an old local recipe,' Mama Isa's Cod', a family recipe and 'Clara's fish soup', named after our chef and much appreciated by our foreign guests! Our homemade 'Paella' is available if reserved in advance.
- Regional wines: the region of Tordesillas is famous for its wines. Four of them, Rueda, Ribera del Duero, Cigales and Toro are highly rated. To find out more about the vineyards of this region, visit the wine museum which is located in the impressive 11th century castle of Penafiel. Another idea, if you are interested in the local wines, is to follow one of the wine routes which the local tourist offices have prepared. There are about a hundred wine cellars open to the public in the area! Select a few to visit on your route.
- Apart from its wines, the area of Valladolid offers a cuisine based on local produce (asparagus, leeks) and where the choice of meat is very important.
